Is Fallout: New Vegas 2 already being worked on?

Fallout: New Vegas has always been the outsider in the Fallout family. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment and released in 2010, the game was a resounding success for the franchise and is still the highest rated of the Fallout series. Bethesda, the creators of the franchise, have always been a little upset that the Fallout they didn’t make was the fan favourite and so the probability of New Vegas 2 has always been incredibly small. However, that might have just changed…

Microsoft recently released the news that they were buying Zenimax Media for a whopping $7.5 billion. Zenimax is the parent company of Bethesda, and so Bethesda franchises are now part of the Microsoft family. Huge news in itself, as it’s very likely that some big Bethesda titles will be appearing on Xbox Game Pass for everyone to enjoy, so keep an eye out for that.

More interestingly for fans of New Vegas, some might remember that Microsoft bought Obsidian Entertainment back in 2018. For the first time since 2010, the development team behind New Vegas and the Fallout franchise are back under one roof, and this has got a lot of people excited.

When the internet gets excited about something, it can be very loud about what it wants and this was no exception. Social media exploded with requests and demands for New Vegas 2, begging for the studios to put aside their past differences and give the people what they want. And incredibly, Obsidian actually replied.

Ok, it definitely isn’t as much information as we’d all like but it is still a very exciting development. It’s proof that Obsidian have seen the amount of support the idea is getting. Far more importantly than that, it’s not an outright dismissal of the idea. This is a major company’s social media team, who carefully think out their tweets and engagements to their fans. It may look like a shrug to some, but this could be the first hint that the game everyone is hoping for might actually be on the way.
